CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Michael Biega recorded a natural hat trick to rally the Harvard men’s hockey team from a two-goal deficit against Brown Friday night to earn COOP Athlete of the Week honors for Jan. 10, 2011.
The Bears took a 2-0 lead eight minutes into the second period. Biega then scored the games next three goals, all in the second period. Just 32 seconds after Brown’s second goal, Biega blasted a one-timer over the Bears goalie’s shoulder to get the Crimson within one. Just 76 seconds later, Biega found the back of the net again on an Alex Killorn feed and tied the game at 2-2. Biega’s third goal came on the power play when he scored on a rebound from the bottom of the right circle.
The hat trick was the second of his career. Biega also added an assist in Saturday’s game against No. 1 Yale and finished the weekend with a +1 rating. He is currently second on the team in scoring with 11 points and six goals.
