Kyle Richter, Men's Ice Hockey
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Kyle Richter earned his sixth career shutout Saturday against Renssalaer and has been selected COOP Athlete of the Week for Nov. 8.
Richter stopped 52 of the 54 shots to come his way in the first two games of the season. The Crimson need each of his 19 saves in Saturday’s 1-0 shutout of No. 18 Rensselaer, a game that was tied at 0-0 for 59 minutes and 51 seconds.
Richter was perhaps even better Friday, making 33 saves to
hold No. 15 Union’s high-powered offense in check and giving
Harvard a chance to win in an eventual 2-1 loss. One of his two
goals against came from Union’s top-ranked power play. The
big weekend gave Richter the early Division I lead in save
percentage (.963) and goals-against average (.963).
