CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Oliver Lee of the men’s swimming and diving team has been voted the COOP Athlete of the Week for Feb. 4.
Lee won a pair of individual events and was a part of three other relay teams that took the top spot in the annual HYP meet to help the Crimson secure an Ivy League dual meet title in 2013. In each of the five races, Lee or Lee and his relay pairing met NCAA ‘B’ qualification standards.
The junior set the school record in the 50 freestyle, breaking teammate Chris Satterthwaite’s mark, with a time of 19.76, which is also the 10th best mark in the NCAA this year. He also established a new personal best in the 100 freestyle with the 10th best time in the NCAA this year, swimming the distance in 43.29 seconds.
The government concentrator was a member of the 200 freestyle relay team that set a new school record of 1:18.71 and the 200 individual medley relay that established a new top mark in Crimson annals with a time of 1:27.18. The Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., native concluded the weekend by helping the 400-freestyle relay team post the second-best time in school history, touching the wall in 2:55.24.
