CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Murphy Vandervelde of the men’s lacrosse team has been named the COOP Athlete of the Week for April 1.
The sophomore registered the first two hat tricks of his career in a pair of contests against Albany and No. 10/12 Duke. In the Tuesday night contest against the Great Danes, Vandervelde tallied three scores to register his first three-goal game in college on just five shots. He replicated his feat on national television Saturday night against the Blue Devils, finding the back of the net three more times on just five attempts to pace the Harvard offense.
On the year, the Wellesley, Mass., native has totaled seven goals and three ground balls.
Harvard returns to action Saturday against Cornell at 1 p.m.
