CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior Dustin Brode of the men’s track and field team has been named the COOP Athlete of the Week for May 27.
Brode broke his own school record to qualify for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., in the shot put. On his first toss of the afternoon, he launched a throw of 18.45m (60’6.5’’) to top his previous best by .25 meters. The heave also earned him the 16th seed for the NCAA Championships, which will be held June 5-8 in the Beaver State.
Three other members of the Crimson – Maksim Korolev, Autumne Franklin and Mary Hirst – will also compete at the Championships.
