Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Collects 250 Pairs In Reuse-a-Shoe Campaign
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - This March, Harvard's
Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) sponsored its first
annual Reuse-a-shoe campaign across the Harvard University campus.
Students across the school donated old, worn out shoes to the
cause. The shoes will be reconstituted to eventually create new
athletic surfaces such as tracks, basketball and tennis courts, and
even playgrounds in under-developed areas. Throughout the
month, SAAC was able to collect over 250 shoes.
The shoes were taken to Niketown on Newbury Street in nearby
Boston. The Nike sustainability claim has collected over 22 million
shoes since the program began in 1990. For more information on how
you can donate your old shoes, visit Nikereuseashoe.com.
