CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Athletics will once again offer live streaming video and audio of select home contests, with its revamped GameCentral portal. All home football, field hockey, and volleyball games will be broadcast live on the GoCrimson.com web site this fall as part of the GameCentral pay-per-view offering.
New in 2010-11, many of the broadcasts will be available as “On Demand” programming so that viewers can watch games at their convenience. All content will also be available on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad devices for easy viewing while away from a standard computer. Plans call for availability on Android devices later this year.
The new Flash video player will also offer player and program features with “inside” access for subscribers.
In addition to “On Demand” options, volleyball broadcasts will feature new play-by-play commentary.
The GameCentral interface will also feature the GoCrimson.com radio broadcast of every football game in addition to the video for Harvard’s five home games (Yale game on tape delay.)
Harvard will also offer streaming for home men’s and women’s ice hockey, basketball and lacrosse games.
In addition to streaming audio and streaming video via Flash, the GameCentral portal also features access to Live Stats during most home games – even when there’s no broadcast available. Additionally, registered users will also have the ability to talk about the game as it happens with the new Live Chat function embedded in the portal.
Single events are priced at $9.95 for a video or television broadcast and various season and all-access pass plans are also available.
