CINCINATTI, Ohio – Harvard left-handed pitcher Brent Suter is enjoying a tremendous summer season with the Hamilton Joes of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League. Suter, a league All-Star chosen to start the midsummer classic, was just named as the league’s Pitcher of the Week for a second straight time.
His latest outing was a seven-inning two-hit shutout with six strikeouts against first place Licking County. Last week, Suter posted a 2-0 record with 12 strikeouts in as many innings while walking just three batters.
Suter owns a 5-0 record and a 1.27 earned run average – tops among the league’s starting pitchers. In 49.2 innings of work, he has struck out 47 batters (both league-leading) while scattering 32 this with just nine walks. He has surrendered just six extra base hits with no home runs.
Off the field, Suter is spending his days as a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship and part of the University of Cincinnati Medical School. Suter is in the cardiology department
