DJ Link hit .556 to earn Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors (OAC).
PRINCETON, N.J. – After hitting .556 for the week, freshman DJ Link was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Link finished the seven-day span 10-18 at the plate with a pair of doubles, five runs and five RBI to help the Crimson earn a pair of Ivy League splits against Cornell and Princeton after dropping a midweek contest to Boston College.
In the contest against the Eagles, Link delivered a RBI single to help the Crimson almost complete the comeback against its crosstown rivals. He followed up with a single in the opener against Cornell on Saturday before going 3-4 with three RBI and a run scored in the nightcap to lift Harvard past the Big Red, 10-7. On Sunday, he had a hit and a run scored versus the Tigers in game one and delivered two singles, two doubles, three runs, a RBI and walk in the Crimson's come-from-behind 20-19 triumph against the Tigers.
It is Link's first Rookie of the Week honor and Harvard's second this season. Fellow class of 2016 member Sean Poppen earned the award March 26 for the Crimson's other Ancient Eight weekly award this year.
Harvard returns to action tomorrow at Northeastern in the opening round of the Beanpot at 3 p.m.
