The Harvard baseball team was in position for another close ballgame on Sunday in the last game of the series at Lamar, but the Cardinals used a five-run seventh inning to run away with the 10-3 victory at Vincent-Beck Stadium.

The Harvard baseball team fought through two more close games on Saturday during a twinbill at Lamar, but the Crimson fell in tight contests to the Cardinals, 4-3 and 3-2 in 10 innings.

Harvard Baseball Grabs First Victory at Lamar, 4-0
The Harvard baseball team earned its first victory of the season on Friday, shutting out the Lamar Cardinals, 4-0, in the clubs’ series opener. Shortstop Carlton Bailey drove in two of the Crimson’s four scores on the day, the first of which came in the second inning, sparking the first win of 2014.

Baseball Heads to Lamar for Four This Weekend
After a nail-biting first series on the road, the Harvard baseball team will head back to the nation's Sun Belt for a four-game set at Lamar. The Crimson (0-4) and the Cardinals (8-5) will do battle at 7:30 p.m. on Friday before a double header on Saturday and a series cap on Sunday at noon.

Baseball Battles, But Drops Both Games of Doubleheader at ORU
After falling just shy of two games in the first double header of the series with Oral Robert, the Harvard baseball team dropped another pair of close decisions to the Golden Eagles on Saturday. The Crimson (0-4) fell in two games to ORU (5-6), 5-3 and 6-5.

Baseball Drops Season-Opening Twinbill at Oral Roberts
The Harvard baseball team opened the 2014 season with wild doubleheader, jumping out to a 4-0 lead in game one while nearly rallying to steal game two, but the Crimson dropped both games of the twinbill at Oral Roberts. Harvard (0-2, 0-0 Ivy League) fell, 6-4 and 4-3 to the Golden Eagles (3-6, 0-0 Southland) on Friday.

The Harvard baseball team will make its way west to open up the 2014 campaign, as the Crimson looks to start the new year with a visit to Oral Roberts this weekend. Harvard and ORU will play a pair of doubleheaders, set for Friday and Saturday.

Baseball Great William Clarence Matthews Inducted into College Baseball Hall of Fame
William Clarence Matthews, class of 1905 and namesake of the Ivy League baseball conference title trophy, has been inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame, the organization announced Tuesday. Matthews had been on the ballot since first being nominated in 2009.

Former Baseball Standout Ben Crockett Visits Cambridge
Former Harvard baseball standout Ben Crockett '02, who currently serves as director of player development for the Boston Red Sox, stopped by campus on Wednesday to speak with the club. Crockett, who was drafted as a junior by the Red Sox in the 10th round in 2001, but choose to return to Harvard, touched on many topics with his former team.

The Harvard baseball schedule has officially been released, Bill Decker, the Joseph J. O'Donnell '67 Head Coach for Harvard Baseball, announced on Tuesday (Nov. 19). The Crimson will play a 41-game slate in 2014, featuring 12 games at Harvard’s O’Donnell Field.

The Joseph J. O'Donnell '67 Head Coach for Harvard Baseball, Bill Decker, has recently announced the appointment of a pair of junior captains for the 2014 season. Outfielder Jack Colton and catcher Ethan Ferreira will serve as leaders for the Crimson this upcoming season.

The Harvard baseball team has announced the creation of a fundraiser to benefit the Vs. Cancer Foundation beginning with the 2014 season. The Crimson has set its sight high with a goal of $10,000 for the cause to fight cancer.
