CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Bill Decker, The Joseph J. O'Donnell '67 MBA '71 Head Coach for Baseball, recently announced the Crimson's 2018 schedule, marking the 152nd season of Harvard baseball. Harvard will host 12 home contests at O'Donnell Field, including three Ivy League series and the first round of the Beanpot Tournament.
The Crimson will kick off the 2018 campaign Feb. 23-25 at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. The following weekend, Harvard will head west for another four-game slate at New Mexico State March 2-4. The team will return to the east coast March 9-11 at Presbyterian College in Cinton, S.C. before wrapping up its southern tour with standalone games at Davidson (March 13) and South Carolina (March 14) and a four-game stint at Furman (March 15-17).
Harvard will get its first crack at the Ivy League on March 24 and 25 when it travels to Princeton for a Saturday double-header and a single game on Sunday. The Crimson will then play a pair of mid-week games at Holy Cross (March 28) before continuing Ivy League play on March 31 and April 1 at Columbia. Harvard will play its first home game of the season when it hosts Boston College in the first round of the Beanpot Tournament on April 3. The team will remain at home the following weekend, hosting Penn April 7-8 before facing either Northeastern or Massachusetts in the final round of the Beanpot on April 10. Later that week, the Crimson will head to Ivy rival Yale (April 14-15) before hosting Northeastern for a non-conference game on April 17. Harvard will then host Brown (April 21-22) and Umass Lowell (April 25) before hitting the road for its final away series of the season at Cornell April 28-29.
Harvard will close out the 2018 regular season at home against Dartmouth on May 13-14. Ivy League Championships are currently set for May 19-20.
Harvard tallied a 19-23 record in 2017. The Crimson has posted 17 wins or more in the last three seasons for the first time since 2006 and 2007.
