TAMPA, Fla. – Harvard senior tight end Kyle Juszczyk has been invited to play in the 2013 Casino Del Sol (CDS) All-Star Game, slated for January 11 at Kino Stadium in Tuscon, Ariz. The game will start at 7 p.m. and can be viewed on ESPN3.
Juszczyk has also been invited to the East-West Shrine Game in St. Petersburg, Fla., which takes place the following week on Jan. 19.
The 2013 Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game is the second annual post-season football exhibition of draft eligible college seniors. The game provides a platform for selected, elite athletes to showcase their talents to professional scouts. Last year's roster produced six NFL draft picks including the 98th overall pick, Gino Gradkowski, who went to the Baltimore Ravens. An additional 61 players off of the 2012 roster entered NFL training camp in July.
A two-year All-American, Juszczyk has been named to this year's elite teams by every publication thus far – including the Associate Press, American Football Coaches Association, The Sports Network, Beyond Sports Network and CollegeSportsMadness.com.
Harvard has had at least one All-American in each of the last 14 years.
Juszczyk led the Ivy League with eight touchdown receptions and led a potent Harvard team with 52 catches for 706 yards (13.6 ypc). For his career, he set the mark for all Harvard tight ends with 125 catches for 1,576 yards and 22 touchdowns.
The game will be broadcast on the NFL Network.
Harvard went 8-2 overall and defeated Yale, 34-24 to earn a program-record sixth straight win over the Bulldogs as well as the 11th victory over the Elis in the last 12 years. The season marked Harvard's Ivy League-record 12th-straight season with at least seven wins – with no other Ivy team even having seven such seasons.
