Harvard Welcomes Field Hockey Class of 2013

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-The Harvard field hockey team will welcome a class of six outstanding student-athletes as freshmen in 2009, head coach Sue Caples has announced.

The incoming players are a versatile group with one goalkeeper and five players who could contribute all over the field. They hail from five different states and one foreign nation.

Kim Goh, Midfielder/Back, Burtonsville, Md./Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart
Lettered three years in field hockey at Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart ... Named captain during senior season ... Named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Academic Squad in 2008 ... A National Futures Championship selection from 2005-2009 ... Junior Olympics selection in 2007 ... Received the National Spanish Exam gold medal sophomore, junior and senior year ... Volunteered at the Montgomery County Refugee Center.

Emma Keller, Forward/Midfielder, Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra
A four-year letterwinner in field hockey at Palmyra High School ... Also lettered one year in swimming ... Named captain of field hockey team senior year ... Led team in scoring senior year ... A Mid Penn All Star selection in 2006 and 2008 ... Participated in the National Youth Leadership Conference and Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference ... Father, Rick, played ice hockey for Michigan Tech.

Nix Maasdorp, Forward/Midfielder, Harare, Zimbabwe/Chisipite Senior School
Played field hockey at Chisipite Senior School in Zimbabwe ... Selected to the U16 Mashonaland field hockey team in 2006 ... Received academic honors for Cambridge Exams in 2007 and 2008 ... Member of Senior Interact, a community service organization in 2007 and 2008 ... Enjoys reading during her free time ... Sister, Shelley '05, played field hockey at Harvard, was named Ivy League Player of the Year in 2004 and is the Crimson's second-leading career scorer.

Molly Stansik, Back Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer
Letterd three years in field hockey and two years in soccer at Ann Arbor Pioneer High School ... Named field hockey defensive MVP junior and senior year ... High school team won state championship in all three of her years ... Member of the National Honor Society ... Enjoys playing the guitar and piano, ultimate frisbee and sand volleyball ... Older brothers, Paul and Pat, played lacrosse at Bucknell University ... Father played football at Eastern Michigan University and briefly in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins.

Cynthia Tassopoulos, Goalkeeper, Dallas, Texas/Hockaday
A four-year letterwinner in field hockey and softball at Hockaday High School ... Captained both teams senior season ... Named first team All-SPC Tournament in 2007 ... Recipient of the Zoe Cavalaris Outstanding Female Athlete Award as well as the Nan McGarr Athletic Sprit Award in 2009 ... Participated in Model UN and Student Council throughout high school ... President and representative of Athletic Board ... Enjoys movies, traveling and Greek dancing ... Father, Kerry, played soccer at Emory University.

Katelin Wahl, Forward/Midfielder/Chester, N.H./Phillips Exeter Academy
