Bridget McGillivray Named Harvard COOP Athlete of the Week
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--Bridget McGillivray, who scored her second goal of the weekend to lift the Harvard field hockey team to an overtime win against Lafayette Sunday, has been named the Harvard COOP Athlete of the Week for Sept. 6.
The sophomore helped lead the Crimson to a 2-0 weekend with five total points in the first two games of the season. McGillivray scored her first career goal on a reverse flick into the top of the cage in the second half of Friday's 4-0 win at Holy Cross.
In Sunday's home opener against Lafayette, McGillivray passed to Sydney Jenkins to give Harvard a 2-1 lead in the first half. The Leopards would tie the score by halftime, but the Victoria, B.C., native scored 10:20 into overtime to give the Crimson a sudden victory.
