CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Harvard field hockey coach Tjerk van Herwaarden has announced the addition of five freshman for the 2014 season; Ellie Cookson, Jill Detrick-Yee, Emily Ott, Olivia Startup and Hannah Wellington. The five newcomers will join a group of 17 returning players from last season.
"We are very excited to welcome our 2018 recruiting class to Harvard," van Herwaarden said. "These five young women will help us to raise the bar again and to continue to build Harvard field hockey for the years to come."

Ellie Cookson – Midfield – Oakville, Ontario
Started and lettered all four years at Oakville Trafalgar High School … Also played rugby and was on the curling team … Captained the field hockey team as a junior and senior and the rugby team as a senior … Played for A&C Field Hockey Academy, captaining from 2012-14 … Won the Louis McLeod Award as a junior, becoming the first junior to win the Senior Female Athlete of the Year Award at Oakville Trafalgar … Junior Gala Cup winner in 2012 … Senior Girls Field Hockey MVP in 2012 and 2013 … Senior Girls Field Hockey Outstanding Rookie of the Year in 2011 … Junior Girls Rugby MVP in 2011 … Named MVP of the U18 Canadian Field Hockey and Cultural Club Tournament in 2013 … Halton District All Star Team in 2012 (MVP and Captain) … Holds all-time highest scoring record for points (104 goals, 81 assists) in four years.

Jill Detrick-Yee – Defense – Wilton, Conn.
