Chris Gallaher'69, a three-time letterwinner and three-time All-Ivy Leaguer for the Harvard men's basketball team, will be inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame Oct. 9 in a ceremony at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn.
Gallagher led the Crimson in scoring in 1967-68 with a 13.9 point-per-game average while also leading the Crimson with 9.6 rebounds-per-game. That season, he led the Ivy League in field goal percentage with a 54.5 percent mark from the floor. He was honored with a selection to the NABC All-District team.
The prior year, he collected an astounding 11.3 rebounds per game to lead the team.
Gallaher is a rare two-time recipient of the Ray Lavietes Most Valuable Player award as the team MVP - honors that he pulled down during his sophomore and senior seasons.
Not just an athlete, Gallagher was a Rhodes Scholar finalist. He was inducted into the Harvard Varsity Club hall of Fame in 1998.
