CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – One more game is needed to decide the Ivy League's automatic berth for the 2011 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship, as the Harvard men's basketball team will face Princeton in a one-game playoff at Yale Saturday, March 12. The game will be held at 4 p.m. in the Lee Amphitheater in New Haven, Conn., and will be shown live on ESPN3.com.
GoCrimson.com will provide free audio of the game, with Chris Villani having the call. Sirius Satellite Radio 130 will also carry the game live.
Harvard concluded the regular season with a 23-5 overall mark and 12-2 mark in the Ivy League, establishing new program records for wins and conference victories in a season. The Crimson topped Princeton (24-6, 12-2 Ivy) in Harvard's regular-season finale, 79-67, March 5, clinching a share of the program's first Ivy League title. Harvard and Princeton finished the year as Ivy League co-champion.
The Crimson currently stands No. 35 in the RPI, 17 spots ahead of Princeton (52).
Tickets for the playoff game will be $20 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets are general admission by section. In addition, 100 tickets for Harvard undergraduate students (with valid Harvard ID, one Harvard ID per person) will be available for free at the Harvard ticket office in the Murr Center beginning at noon on Wednesday, March 8. Once the first 100 student tickets are distributed, 50 additional undergraduate student tickets (with valid Harvard ID, one Harvard ID per person) will go on sale for $5.
Harvard men's basketball season ticket holders and athletic donors will have exclusive priority to purchase tickets between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. (noon) Wednesday. Season ticket holders and donors are encouraged to check their email for a promotion code to purchase tickets. Ticket sales will be limited to four tickets per order.
After noon Wednesday, sales will be open to all parties.
