Chambers, Saunders Sweep Weekly Ivy Awards

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Siyani Chambers and Wesley Saunders of the Harvard men's basketball team have been named the recipients of the Ivy League weekly awards, the league announced Monday. Chambers was tabbed the Ivy Rookie of the Week, while Saunders garnered conference Player of the Week accolades.

Chambers, a native of Golden, Valley, Minn., has started all six games this season and ranks third on the team with 11.3 points per game, while being tied for the conference lead with 5.0 assists per contest. Against Vermont Nov. 27, Chambers, the Crimson's point guard, went 6-of-6 from the foul line and finished with a career-high 16 points, while also handing out a career-best eight assists. He added 13 points and was 4-of-4 from the line in the victory over Fordham Dec. 1.

Saunders, a guard/forward who hails from Los Angeles, Calif., shot 7-of-12 from the field and tallied a career-high 21 points, while assisting on four baskets and making four steals against the Catamounts. He followed that performance by going 13-of-18 from the foul line and notching 17 points against the Rams. Saunders, who has also started all six contests, leads the Crimson with 15.8 points per game, which ranks second in the Ancient Eight.

Chambers, Saunders and the Crimson will visit Boston College Tuesday, Dec. 4 in a game that will be shown live on at 7 p.m.
