Chambers Earns Second Ivy Rookie of the Week Honor

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After hitting the game-winning shot with four seconds remaining against Boston University Dec. 11, freshman point guard Siyani Chambers of the Harvard men’s basketball team has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced. Chambers was also tabbed the Ivy’s top rookie Dec. 3.

A native of Golden Valley, Minn., Chambers played 39 minutes in the 65-64 win over the Terriers. Chambers went 7-of-12 from the field, 3-of-6 from beyond the arc and was 4-of-4 from the foul line, while tying his career-high with 21 points. With the Crimson trailing by one, 64-63, Chambers knocked down a jump shot with four ticks left on the clock, helping Harvard improve to 5-4 on the year.
Chambers, who is second on the Crimson with 12.6 points per game, leads the Ivy League with 5.1 assists per contest. He ranks 13th in the nation in free throw shooting (.944) and is 15th in minutes per game (37.0). Chambers is also knocking down 48.4 percent of his 3-point attempts (15-of-31) and has connected on 32 straight free throws since Nov. 13.
Chambers and the Crimson will return from exams to host Holy Cross at Lavietes Pavilion Saturday, Dec. 22 at 2 p.m.
