CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard men's basketball head coach Tommy Amaker will join the six other Massachusetts Div. I coaches for the second annual Coaches vs. Cancer Tip-Off Breakfast, scheduled to be held Thursday, Sept. 26 at 7:30 a.m. in the Legends' Room at TD Garden.
This year's event will feature first-year Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens who led Butler University to back-to-back NCAA championship games in 2010-11. ESPN college basketball writer Jeff Goodman will moderate the breakfast with the discussion focusing on NCAA basketball in Massachusetts.
Other coaches scheduled to attend the breakfast include Steve Donahue (Boston College), Joe Jones (Boston University), Milan Brown (Holy Cross), Bill Coen (Northeastern), Derek Kellogg (UMass), and Pat Duquette (UMass Lowell).
Tickets for the event are on sale now and are priced at $100. Proceeds will benefit Coaches vs. Cancer, a nation-wide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) that empowers basketball coaches, their teams, and local communities to make a difference in the fight against cancer.
The program leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of basketball coaches nation-wide to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living through year-round awareness efforts, fundraising activities, and advocacy programs.
