Howard Honored with Shell Dedication
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--A rowing shell donated by Harvard heavyweight crew alumni was dedicated in honor of Olympic champion Malcolm Howard '05 Saturday at Newell boathouse following the Crimson's Compton Cup win against Princeton and MIT.
Alumni who donated the shell were on hand for the dedication and a celebratory row on the Charles River after watching the Crimson varsity row the shell to victory against the Tigers and Engineers.
Howard went undefeated against intercollegiate competition in his three years as a member of Harvard's varsity eight, helping the Crimson to three straight national championships. He helped Canada's men's eight win Olympic gold in Beijing in 2008 and received honorable mention in the selection of the Rowing News Male Athlete of the Year for 2009.
