Harvard Lightweights Cap China Trip with Another Win

XINJIN, China—The Harvard lightweight crew capped its tour of China with its second win in as many races, taking first place in the International Famous Universities Regatta, held Sunday at the Sichuan Provincial National Team Training Center.

The Crimson defeated Yale, Cambridge and Oxford for the second straight regatta. The Bulldogs stayed closer than in Harvard’s 16.2-second win Aug. 1 in Beijing, but the Crimson still cruised to victory by a wide margin.

Harvard crossed the finish line in 5:57.6, 10.6 seconds ahead of Yale. Cambridge finished 7.4 seconds behind the Bulldogs, and Oxford was another 8.1 seconds back.

Racing for Harvard were coxswain Dexter Louie ’10, senior stroke Will Newell, sophomore Erich Schultze, junior Austin Meyer, Martin Eirmann ’10, junior Tim Moore, senior Andrew Trott, senior Tyler Caldwell and senior bowman Sean Duncan. The group was coached by Linda Muri.
