ITHACA, N.Y. – With close races across the board, Harvard lightweight crew won the second varsity, freshman eight and second freshman races over Cornell and Penn at the Cayuga Inlet Saturday afternoon.

With a direct tail wind over the first 1000m and a variable swirling win for the last 1000m, the first varsity nearly overtook Cornell, but was edged by 1.2 seconds. The Big Red finished in 5:53.0, while the Crimson crossed just behind with a time of 5:54.2. Penn finished with a time of 6:08.7.

Harvard took the second varsity race by open water with a winning time of 6:03.7. Cornell clocked a time of 6:07.2 in the two-boat race.

Cornell earned the better of Harvard in the two-boat third varsity event. The Big Red (6:10.2) finished just over three seconds ahead of the Crimson (6:13.4).

The freshman eight clocked a time of 5:59.1 to edge Cornell (6:01.5) by nearly a boat length. Penn was not far behind with a time of 6:03.0.

The second freshman boat, fighting through snow pellets in the final races, bested Cornell (6:42.5) and Penn (7:06.1) with a time of 6:40.2. The Crimson edged the Big Red by nearly a boat length, while downing the Quakers by open water.

Harvard returns home to host Dartmouth and MIT in pursuit of the Biglin Bowl.
