Fencing Posts Four Wins at Sollee Invitational

WALTHAM, Mass.- The No. 7 Harvard men’s fencing team defeated Air Force, 17-10, and Haverford, 23-4, Saturday at the Eric Sollee Invitational. The third-ranked Crimson women’s fencing team handed the Falcons a 24-3 loss and the Fords a 21-6 loss.

In the victory over Air Force, the Crimson captured wins in all three weapons. Harvard won the sabre and foil by the score of 6-3 and edged the Falcons 5-4 in the epee. Against Haverford, the Crimson swept all nine bouts in the epee, took eight bouts in the sabre and earned six points in the foil.

On the women’s side, Harvard earned all nine points in the foil, eight in the sabre and seven in the epee to down Air Force 24-3. The Crimson picked up eight points in the sabre and foil competitions and scooped up the crucial fifth point to win all three weapon competitions.

Harvard returns to action Feb. 21 as it takes on Cornell, Penn and Yale at the first half Ivy League Championships in Ithaca, N.Y.
