Men's Fencing Adds Four Newcomers for Upcoming Season
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Harvard men's fencing team, led by head coach Peter Brand, will welcome four freshmen to the squad for the upcoming 2012-13 season. Two members of the class are foil fencers, while one will compete in the sabre and the other will fence with the epee.
The Crimson concluded the 2011-12 campaign 12-6 overall and 4-1 in the Ivy League, finishing second in the conference. Harvard also earned a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Championships. Four Harvard men's fencers received All-America honors, while the Crimson also saw four of its fencers earn All-Ivy status.

Fenced for the Societe d'Escrime de Geneve on Swiss national circuit … Competed for Switzerland for the European Cadet circuit and the junior World Cup … Rnaked No. 1 at the Cadet in Switzerland in 201-11 season … Was the only Swiss fencer ranked at the Cadet 2011 Cadet World Fencing Championship in Jordan … Ranked No. 5 in European Cadet ranking at the beginning of the 2010-11 season … Bronze medalist at the 2011 Cadet Swiss Championship … Won the 2008-09 Swiss national overall circuit in the Minime category … Came in the top-16 at the European tournament in Gotenborg, Sweeden in 2011 … Won Swiss championships in 2007-08, 2008-09 … Has accrued over 25 national and international medals since 2005 … Graduated with distinction from Swiss bilingual Matruite Federale in Sept. 2011 … Received national distinction of Excellency for his high school thesis.
