Crimson Finishes Sixth at Ivy League Championships
NORTHFIELD, N.J. —
The Columbia men's golf team won its
second straight consecutive Ivy title, coming from behind to edge
Penn by a single stroke. Harvard placed sixth in the eight-team
field, led by Greg Shuman’s
eighth place overall finish (70-73-71-214). Dartmouth freshman
Peter Williamson won the individual title in thrilling fashion,
beating Princeton's Eric Salazar in a three-hole playoff.
Columbia, who entered the final round in third-place three strokes
back of the lead, shot a final round 284 to come from behind and
take the title. The Lions shot rounds of 291, 283 and 284 on the
par-70 layout at Atlantic City Country Club.
Clark Granum was Columbia's top finisher, as he tied for
fifth-place, shooting one-over par for the tournament. Brendan
Doyle and Austin Quinten also finished top-ten for the Lions.
Dartmouth's Peter Williamson became the first Big Green golfer to
win the individual title since Bryan Kim in 1995, as the freshman
carded a third round 73 to finish one-under par (69-69-73 —
211) for the tournament. In a battle of underclassmen, Williamson
narrowly beat out Princeton sophomore Eric Salazar in a thrilling
three-hole playoff.
