Vesey To Compete for Team USA at IIHF World Junior Championship

HELSINKI, Finland - Freshman forward Jimmy Vesey of the Harvard men's hockey team has been named to the U.S. Junior National Team final roster, USA Hockey announced Sunday. The 23-man squad will participate in the 2013 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Junior Championship Dec. 26, 2012-Jan. 5, 2013 in Ufa, Russia. 

Vesey is one of 13 forwards to make the U.S. squad, and one of just three players representing the ECAC on the team. The North Reading, Mass., native saw action on the second line of forwards during pre-tournament action, and picked up an assist and was named Team USA's Player of the Game in a 3-2 overtime win against Sweden. 

The U.S. is looking to earn its third medal in four years, after taking bronze in 2011 in Buffalo, N.Y., and capturing gold in 2010 in Saskatoon, Sask. Play begins for the United States with a Dec. 27 matchup against Germany, followed by a meeting with Russia the next day. All Team USA games will be broadcast on the NHL Network and streamed on
