Gibbons Named NEILA Player of the Week for Second Time

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior attackman Dean Gibbons of the Harvard men’s lacrosse team has been named the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA)/Skor Sports Player of the Week for the second time, it was announced Tuesday.

Gibbons, a native Garden City, N.Y., posted five goals and two assists for seven points last week, helping the Crimson go 1-1. A co-captain of Harvard, he netted a hat trick, including the game-winner, in an 11-9 win over Massachusetts March 29. He also tallied two goals and assisted on two other scores in a 12-11 loss at Albany April 2.
Gibbons , who was also tabbed NEILA Player of the Week March 14, leads Harvard with 33 points and 13 assists this season and ranks 12th in the nation with 3.67 points per game.
Harvard, which stands 6-3 overall and 1-1 in the Ivy League, hosts No. 6 Cornell in a key conference game Saturday, April 9. The game, which will be played at Harvard Stadium and begin at 2:10 p.m., will be shown live nationally on CBS College Sports.
