Men's Lacrosse Announces Class of 2016

Six members of the Class of 2016 are ranked among the top 100 recruits by Inside Lacrosse (Gil Talbot).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Chris Wojcik '96, the Frisbie Family Head Coach for Harvard Men's Lacrosse, has announced the addition of 10 freshmen for the 2013 season. The Class of 2016 has been ranked as the fourth-best recruiting class in the nation by Inside Lacrosse and features six student-athletes ranked in the top 100.

"I am thrilled to welcome the Harvard lacrosse class of 2016," Wojcik commented. "Our program is fortunate to add a talented group of young men and we expect the class to make an immediate impact on the field. The players come from winning programs and they will arrive focused on helping our program reach our team goals. I am looking forward to their arrival on campus later this month."

Harvard has boasted a top 10 recruiting class each of the last four years, including the No. 3 class in both 2011 and 2009. This year's group includes Inside Lacrosse's No. 2 recruit in defenseman Bobby Duvnjak, the No. 4 recruit in attackman Devin Dwyer and the No. 22 recruit in attackman Ian Ardrey. They will be accompanied by No. 27 Walker Kirby, No. 52 Sean McDonagh, No. 68 Deke Burns, as well as Bryan Moore, Conor Murphy, Brendan Newman and Stefan Pate.

The Class of 2016 will be joining 32 returning letterwinners from last year's squad which ranked 22nd in the country in scoring offense and 30th in scoring defense.

Ian Ardrey, Attackman, 5-10, 185, Greenwich, Conn.
Ranked as the No. 22 recruit in the class of 2016 by Inside Lacrosse … Played varsity lacrosse all four years at Deerfield Academy … Captain of the lacrosse team in 2012 … Helped the lacrosse team win three NE West 1 Championships from 2010-12 … Named Under Armour All-American in 2012 … Also named All-New England in 2012 … Leading scorer at Deerfield in 2012 … Also played three years of varsity football and one year of varsity hockey … Served as football team captain as a senior ... Deke Burns, Attackman, 6-0, 165, Jamesville, N.Y.

Robert Duvnjak, Defenseman, 6-3, 205, Manhasset, N.Y.
Ranked as the No. 2 recruit in the class of 2016 by Inside Lacrosse … Played varsity lacrosse all four years at Manhasset … Captain of the lacrosse team in 2012 … Led Manhasset to two New York State Championships … Helped the lacrosse team go undefeated in his sophomore season … Named All-American in lacrosse three times … Also named All-Long Island and Academic All-County for three years … Two-time recipient of the Nassau County Defensive Player of the Year award … Also played four years of varsity football at Manhasset … Captain of the football team in 2012 … Selected for the MSG Varsity All-Metro Team … Named All-County and All-Conference once … Vice president of the 'Be Like Rachael' club … Four-year member of the St. Mary's youth group … Father, Karlo Duvnjack '85, and sister, Annie Duvnjak '08, are graduates from Harvard College.

Devin Dwyer, Attackman, 5-11, 165, Garden City, N.Y.
Ranked as the No. 4 recruit in the class of 2016 by Inside Lacrosse … Started all four years as an attackman at Garden City … Captain of the lacrosse team in 2012 … Led Garden City to an undefeated season, a No. 1 ranking by Inside Lacrosse and a Class B NYS Championship in 2012 … Chosen US Lacrosse National Player of the year in 2012 … Named an All-American in 2012 and received All-America honorable mention in 2010 and 2011 … Selected Under Armour All-American in 2012 … Also named All-County all four years of high school  … Selected as the Nassau County Player of the Year and the Attackman of the Year in 2012 … Named the NYS Class B Championship Offensive MVP in 2012 … Selected Newsday All-Long Island first team MVP … Named Nassau County Scholar-Athlete in 2012 … Scored 347 career points and holds the record for career assists at Garden City with 217 … Also played three years of varsity basketball and two years of varsity football at Garden City … Member of the National Honor Society … Sister, Bradie Dwyer, was a diver at Boston College and brother, Dillon Dwyer, played two years of football at Ithaca College.

Brendan Newman, Midfielder, 6-4, 200, Basking Ridge, N.J.
