Rowland Introduced as Volunteer Assistant Coach of Men's Soccer
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Former All-America
forward Jeffrey Rowland has been named a volunteer assistant coach
with the Harvard men’s soccer program, Jamie Clark, the
Virginia B. and James O. Welch, Jr. ’52 Head Coach for
Harvard Men’s Soccer, announced Monday..
Rowland, who is also currently serving as a coach for the F.C.
Greater Boston Bolts, most recently worked as a coach with the Rio
Vista Youth from 2007-08, and an instructor at the University of
New Mexico and Wilmington Hammerheads camps. From 2003-04, he
coached in a similar capacity at the Notre Dame soccer camp.
A 2005 finalist for the Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann
Trophy, given to the nation’s top collegiate player, Rowland
was a two-time All-America and Academic All-America honoree at New
Mexico. He was the Mountain West Conference Co-Player of the Year
in 2004 and a year later helped the Lobos place second at the NCAA
tournament.
After graduating magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in
marketing from New Mexico in 2006, Rowland was drafted by Real Salt
Lake of Major League Soccer (MLS). In 2008, he signed with FC
Dallas of the MLS as well as the Wilmington Hammerheads of the
United Soccer League.
