Connor McCarthy Tabbed Ivy League Rookie of the Week
Connor McCarthy scored the game-winning goal in Harvard's
1-0 win at Holy Cross Oct. 6 (Gil Talbot).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Connor McCarthy of the
Harvard men's soccer team has been named the Ivy League Rookie of
the Week, the conference office announced Monday
afternoon.
McCarthy, a freshman forward from Ridgefield, Conn., scored the
game-winning goal for his first collegiate score in Harvard's 1-0
victory at Holy Cross Wednesday. In the win over the
Crusaders, classmate Kyle Henderson sent a pass to McCarthy, who
kicked the ball into the back of the net from the left side at
46:47.
With the win at Holy Cross and a 1-1 tie against Cornell Oct. 9,
Harvard is 2-0-1 in its last three games, improving to 4-3-4
overall and 1-0-1 in the Ivy League. The Crimson visits No. 20
Brown in a key Ivy League matchup in Providence, R.I., Saturday,
Oct. 16 at 7 p.m.
