Harvard Men’s Soccer Game to Benefit Cape Verde Continues
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard men's soccer team will host local Cape Verdean All-Stars in a match to benefit the Cape Verdean Football Federation and Coaches Across Continents. The game will be held at Harvard Stadium Friday, April 20 at 7 p.m.
Despite the unfortunate circumstances which prevented the Cape Verdean National Team to travel to the United States to play Harvard and Dartmouth, Harvard will continue to hold the charity event.
"We will honor our commitment and still engage the Cape Verdean community with our soccer match next week," said Carl Junot, The Virginia B. and James O. Welch '52 Head Coach for Harvard Men's Soccer. "We are excited to host a team comprised of local Cape Verdean All-Stars and are looking forward to the event, which will benefit the Cape Verdean Football Federation and Coaches Across Continents."
In addition to the game, Harvard will host a Fan Zone and will take up a collection with funds benefiting the Cape Verdean Football Federation and Coaches Across Continents. Tickets for the event will be $10, with proceeds going to this worthy cause. In addition, donations will also be accepted during the game to benefit these charities. Admission for the game will be free to Harvard undergraduates.
Coaches Across Continents is an international development organization that educates local communities to design and implement social development programs using soccer as the teaching tool.
