No. 5 Harvard Doubles Up No. 10 Williams, 6-3

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The fifth-ranked Harvard men's squash team improved to 2-0 on the season by earning a 6-3 win on the road at No. 10 Williams Sunday afternoon. 

The Crimson earned wins at slots 1-6, led by No. 1 Colin West, who dismissed William Morris, 3-0 (11-8, 11-3, 11-2).  Richard Hill also earned a 3-0 sweep at the No. 2 position, downing Ethan Buchsbaum 11-5, 12-10, 11-7.  Harvard rolled at the No. 3 and 4 spots, as Zeke Scherl topped Will Gruner, 3-0 (11-8, 11-3, 11-9) and J. Reed Endresen earned a 3-0 win over Christian Henze (11-2, 11-9, 11-8). 

At the No. 5, Jason Michas earned a hard-fought, 3-2, victory against Bernard Yaros.  Michas dropped the first game, 9-11, but rebounded to win the next two, 11-8 and 11-4.  Yaros claimed game four, 9-11, but Michas clinched the match in the fifth game, 12-10.  At the No. 6 position, Franklin Cohen won the first game, 11-6, but dropped the second to Julian Drobetsky, 8-11.  Cohen and Drobetsky traded the next two games (11-5, 7-11), before Cohen emerged with an 11-5 victory in the fifth game.

William Ahmed dropped a close match at the No. 9 slot to Jeremy Herrmann, 3-2.  Herrmann claimed the first game, 11-5, before Ahmed won game two, 7-11.  After Herrmann took a 2-1 lead with an 11-6 showing in the third game, Ahemd won the fourth, 13-11, but Herrmann outlasted Ahmed in the fifth and decisive game, 11-9.

Alexander Ma fell to Alexander Greaves-Tunnell, 3-1, at the No. 8 after winning the first game (4-11, 11-8, 11-5, 11-8), and Alex Lavoie dropped three straight games at the No. 7 to Nick Marks (13-11, 12-10, 12-10).

Harvard is next in action in a road match at Dartmouth Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 5 p.m.
