No. 5 Men's Squash Drops First Match of the Season

The No. 5 Harvard men's squash team lost its first match of the season on Saturday as Ivy rival No. 6 Cornell defeated the Crimson, 7-2.

Using a three-court system, Cornell was able to jump out to an early lead, winning the first three matches at the No. 3, 6 and 9 spots.

J. Reed Endresen notched Harvard's first vicotry of the match in the No. 5 spot. Endresen, winning by a score of 11-4, 11-3, 11-5, pushed the score to 4-1 in favor of the Big Red.

W. McKay Claghorn would ensure the win for Cornell in the very next match. Competing in the No. 8 spot against Thomas Mullaney, Claghorn gave the Big Red its match-winning fifth victory with a 11-9, 9-11, 11-5, 11-7 score.

Nigel Koh tallied Harvard's only other victory of the match in the No. 4 spot. Koh downed Arjun Gupta in five games, 9-11, 10-12, 11-8, 11-5, 11-2.

Harvard will look to rebound at No. 4 Rochester tomorrow, match time is slated for 1 p.m.
