WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Harvard men's squash team defeated Williams, 9-0, to earn its 34th consecutive season opening victory Friday. The Crimson took 27 of 30 games from the Ephs to cruise to the victory.

Harvard has opened every season with a win since a 5-4 setback at Western Ontario to start the 1977-78 campaign.

Five Crimson players swept their matches, led by Gary Power at the No. 2 spot (11-5, 11-2, 11-3) against Nick Marks. Zeke Scherl won 3-0 over Andrew Maruca in the No. 5 position (11-4, 11-3, 11-6) and Tom Mullaney swept Alexander Greves-Tunnell (11-6, 11-6, 11-5) at No. 6. Harvard's last three positions did not lose a game as Julian Kirby (11-8, 11-9, 11-9), Alexander Ma (11-7, 11-3, 11-8) and Jason Michas (11-7, 11-3, 11-8) rolled to victories.

Brandon McLaughlin stumbled in the second game at No. 1, but regained momentum to down William Morris (11-7, 7-11, 11-3, 11-5). Nigel Koh and Nicholas Hopcraft lost their opening games on the day, before each strung together three straight wins to take the match, 3-1.

Harvard returns to action Nov. 30 when the Crimson visit Hanover, N.H. to take on No. 7 Dartmouth and No. 14 Middlebury.
