Meyer to Compete at Open Water National Championships
Alex Meyer will look to lock up the open water national
title this weekend in Long Beach, Calif. (David Silverman).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Alex Meyer ’10 of the men’s
swimming and diving team will compete in the 2010 10K Open Water
National Championship this Friday in Long Beach, Calif. The event
will serve as the official trials for the U.S. Open Water National
Team, which will compete at the Pan Pacific and World Open Water
Championships in 2010.
Meyer finished his collegiate career on a high note, earning All-America accolades this season with a 14th-place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle at the NCAA Championships. The Ithaca, N.Y., native also earned the Harold S Ulen and Phil Moriarty Awards at the 2010 Ivy League Championship meet, as the career high-point and meet high-point swimmer, respectively. In his most recent open water action, Meyer captured the title at the 2010 Nike Swim Miami Open Water meet, completing the 10K race in 1:57:58.
