CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior Alistair Felton picked up his first two singles wins in dual competition this spring to lead the No. 64 Harvard men's tennis team to a doubleheader split Sunday, as the Crimson fell, 4-3, to No. 72 William & Mary and swept local rival Boston University, 7-0.

The split moves Harvard's season record to 2-3. Felton defeated Jamie Whiteford of William & Mary, 7-6, 6-3, at the No. 3 singles spot, then finished the day with a win over the Terriers' Jarred Pendleton, 6-0, 6-3, at the No. 2 slot. Felton fell in doubles with partner Andy Nguyen against the Tribe's Sebastien Vidal and Jamie Whiteford in a close, 9-8, match.

It was the tightly contested doubles point that would make the difference in the 4-3 win for William & Mary. All three doubles matches went to a tiebreaker, ending at 9-8, and the Tribe won two of three matches to earn the point. The teams split the singles matches 3-3.

Against Boston University in the nightcap, Harvard won every single match, sweeping the doubles for the point there and winning each singles competition, including the duals debuts of freshmen Casey MacMaster, Brendan Seaver and John Thornton.

The Crimson hosts another doubleheader at the Murr Center Tennis Courts Friday with Davidson and Qunnipiac visiting to wrap up a seven-game season-opening homestand for Harvard.
