MacMaster and Nguyen Claim Top Doubles Flight to Spark Men’s Tennis at Ivy Plus Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Harvard men's tennis team continued its fall schedule with a strong showing at the Ivy Plus Invitational hosted by Yale this past weekend.

Casey MacMaster and Denis Nguyen claimed the Draw "A" Main doubles bracket after defeating duos from UNC Wilmington, Dartmouth and Columbia. In the final match, MacMaster and Nguyen defeated St. John's Erick Eyes and R.J. Del Nunzio, 8-7. MacMaster and Nguyen are currently ranked No. 20 in the ITA doubles rankings.

In singles play, Shaun Chaudhuri won all but one set en route to the finals of the first singles flight where he fell to Winston Lin of Columbia (6-1, 4-6, 6-1).

Classmate Nguyen took two wins before falling to Lin in the quarterfinals, while Nicky Hu defeated Dovyda Sakinis of Dartmouth in the first round before dropping a second-round match to Dragod Ignat of Columbia.

Freshman Sebastian Beltrame registered three wins in straight sets to advance to the finals of the Draw "C" Main.  Beltrame downed Colin Sinclair of Cornell, 6-3, 6-2. Sophomore Kelvin Lam cruised to the "D" bracket finals where he met Max Schnur of Columbia.  Lam lost the first set before posting a 6-4, 6-2 to lock up the win.
