Men's Tennis Edged, 4-2, by Iowa in Opening Match of San Diego Tournament

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Harvard men's tennis team (8-7) fell 4-2 in a close match to Iowa (10-4) in the opening round of the USD/SDSU Spring Break Tournament. Harvard earned the doubles point for the fifth time in the last six matches, as the Crimson No. 2 and No. 3 pairs earned wins after a rare loss by No. 40 Brian Yeung and Kenny Tao.

In the No. 3 spot. Christopher Morrow and Logan Weber improved to 10-3 on the season with a 6-2 win over Iowa's Robin Haden and Jake Jacoby. With doubles matches knotted at 1-1, it came down to the No. 2 pair of Sebastian Beltrame and Jean Thirouin, which moved to 6-1 on the year with a win in a tiebreaker – 7-6 (7-2).

In singles play, Thirouin recorded the lone win for Harvard, winning in the No. 4 spot, 6-1, 6-3, over Robin Haden. For Thirouin it was his team best seventh singles victory of the season (7-3).

Harvard will continue play at the USD/SDSU Spring Break Tournament tomorrow with a dual match against either San Diego State or Oregon.
