DJ White was the second-straight Harvard player honored by
the EIVA with its weekly Offensive Player of the Week award as he
tallied 16 kills and 11 digs against No. 12 Cal State Northridge.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the second-straight week one of the members of the Harvard men’s volleyball team earned the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week award. This time it was freshman DJ White who receives the honor after his 16 kill, 11 dig perforamance against No. 12 Cal State Northridge on Saturday, helping Harvard to a 3-1 win. The victory is its first over a ranked opponent under head coach Brian Baise.
In Saturday night's match White tallied a team-leading 16 kills coupled 11 digs as the as the Hermosa Beach, Calif., native recorded the Crimson’s second double-double of the season. White was an efficient hitter during the match, recording a .481 hitting percentage on 27 swings and accounted for 17.5 of Harvard’s points (17k,1a,3b).
Harvard has been buoyed by the efforts of the class of 2015 this season, and in large part it has been due to the contributions of White. He currently sits third on the team in kills per set with 2.70, and digs per set with a 1.46 average.
Harvard continues its California road trip tonight when they take on No. 8 Pepperdine and tomorrow night facing Cal Baptist. Both matches are slated for 10 p.m. (EST)
