FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Harvard men's volleyball swept IPFW in three-straight sets Saturday evening in Indiana with scores of 27-25, 25-22 and 25-21. The Crimson improve to 2-3 overall as the Mastodons fall to 2-2 on the season.
Junior Casey White registered the fourth double-double of his career with 10 kills and 11 digs on the evening, moving him up to ninth on Harvard's all-time list with 366 digs. Senior teammate Branden Clemens chipped in 14 kills and eight digs while freshman Trevor Dow tallied four blocks. Clemens is now tied with Joe Herger '00 for ninth place in program history with 26 solo blocks and is alone in ninth in career blocks with 151.
Andrew Sellan registered 13 kills to lead IPFW as Tony Price notched 11 and Graydon Schroeder tallied 10 kills. The Crimson outhit the Mastodons .417 to .210.
The two teams battled throughout the first set knotting it 17 times, but Harvard's 3-1 run late gave the Crimson match point, 27-25 .
Harvard led from beginning to end in the second set witha kill by Alec Schlossman putting the Crimson up seven, 12-5. The Mastodons eventually pulled within two, 20-18, but Harvard maintained its advantage and took the set, 25-22, on a Clemens kill.
IPFW jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third stanza, but the Crimson fought back with three-straight points of its own. A block by Dow and White put Harvard on top for good, 11-10, with a 6-2 run giving the Crimson match point, 25-21.
The Crimson returns to Cambridge for its first home match of the season against Alderson Broaddus at the Malkin Athletic Center on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 4 p.m. The contest will be broadcast on the Ivy League Digital Network.
