Harvard Splits Opening Games of California Road Trip

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Behind four goals from co-captain Luka Babic, the Harvard men's water polo team defeated Occidental College Friday, 12-8, in its first game of the Claremont Convergence Tournament before falling to No. 18 Pomona-Pitzer, 10-9, in the nightcap.
Senior Jeff Lee had three scores and three assists, and senior co-captain Bret Voith chipped in two goals, two helpers and three takeaways to lead the Crimson (5-8, 0-2 Collegiate Water Polo Association) to its second-straight victory. Junior goalie Alexandre Popp made eight saves and had an assist in the game to help lead his team to victory.
Harvard led 5-3 after the first period, and posted a 3-1 scoring advantage in the second period to double up the Tigers at 8-4 by halftime. The Crimson fell to the No. 18-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens later Friday night, 10-9.
Harvard returns to action Saturday with two more Claremont Convergence Tournament games, first against Caltech at 4 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, and then a nightcap against host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 9:20 p.m. EST.
