PRINCETON, N.J. – A pair of freshmen led the way as the Harvard men's water polo team topped California Lutheran, 13-5, at the Princeton Invitational Friday night.
Harvard jumped out to a huge first half lead as the team outscored California Lutheran by three goals in each of the first two periods to take a 9-3 advantage into the break.
The defense carried the team the rest of the way as Harvard had 10 steals, while Jimmy Field and Colin Woolway both made four saves in net to limit the Kingsmen to just five goals in the game and two in the second half.
Harvard returns to action tomorrow with a doubleheader against No. 16 Princeton at 3 p.m. and No. 3 California at 8 p.m.
