CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Ted Minnis, The Friends of Harvard Water Polo Head Coach, has announced that rising seniors Will Roller and Jimmy Field have been voted the men's water polo captains for the upcoming 2013 season.
The two class of 2014 members were instrumental in Harvard's successful 2012 campaign. The Crimson finished 15-19 overall, placing third in the Collegiate Water Polo Association Northern Division and seventh at the CWPA Eastern Championships.
Roller, who also served as a captain last season, was a key contributor on the offensive side. He tallied 31 goals, 39 assists and 24 steals and also earned ACWPC "Superior" Scholar-Athlete honors for the third consecutive year.
Field served as one of the Crimson's two goalkeepers this past year. He totaled 166 saves, 12 steals, seven assists and three goals and garnered ACWPC "Outstanding" Scholar-Athlete recognition for the second straight year. The Hawaii native also was named the CWPA Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week Sept. 24 after stopping 24 shots and recording one steal in eight quarters.
