MEDFORD, Mass.--The Harvard sailing team earned a pair of fifth-place finishes over the weekend, in the Hood Trophy at Tufts and Central Series Three, hosted by Boston University.
Junior Tedd Himler and sophomore Alexandra Jumper led the Crimson by placing fifth among 24 schools in the B division at Tufts. The duo finished in top 10 in nine of 10 races. They won one race and finished third on three other occasions.
Juniors Alan Palmer and Grace Charles placed ninth in the A division with four top-six finishes and two top-three showings. They totaled 94 points, while Himler and Jumper had 70. The Crimson's 164 points, seven ahead of South Florida and 15 back of Yale. Roger Williams won with 112 points.
Junior Colin Santangelo and freshman Sarah McCuskee paced the Crimson with a third-place A-division finish among 17 competing schools at BU. They placed in the top five in seven of 12 races, winning two of the final three. Freshmen Ryan Byrne and Alma Lafler placed sixth in the B division.
