Harvard Women's Sailing Takes Fifth at Dellenbaugh Trophy

A second-place finish in the B division and a fifth-place overall showing at the Women’s Dellenbaugh Trophy at Brown were part of a weekend of three top-six team performances for the Harvard sailing team.
The Crimson also placed fourth in the Mystic Lake Invitational/Central Series Three at Tufts and sixth in the Southern New England Team Race at Coast Guard and Connecticut College.
Liz Powers and Marie Appel were the B-division runners-up in an 18-school field at Brown, totaling 72 points in 14 races to finish just nine behind the division-winning duo from Boston College. The Harvard pair had two wins, two second-place finishes and three other top-five showings.
Emily Lambert and Alexandra Jumper placed ninth in the A division, and Harvard totaled 202 points, 21 fewer than sixth-place Dartmouth. BC won the overall title, followed by Brown, St. Mary’s and College of Charleston.
The Harvard coed squad posted a 6-8 Gold Fleet record in Connecticut. Following a top-four finish in Saturday’s initial round robin at Coast Guard, the Crimson advanced to the Gold Fleet at Connecticut College. Brown edged Harvard on a tiebreaker for fourth place, and Georgetown won the overall title among the 16 competing schools.
Jason Michas and William White placed sixth of 20 boats in a 10-school, combined-division field at Tufts. Harvard totaled 123 points as a team.
