Harvard Completes Three Regattas over the Weekend

The Harvard sailing team finished three regattas this weekend as the team took sixth place at the Owen, Mosbacher &Knapp trophies and sixth at the Owen, Mosbacher & Knapp trophies. The Crimson also competed at BU Bridge Invitational where it ended the weekend in sixth place.

The Crimson finished 10th at the 83rd Boston Dinghy Challenge Cup over the weekend as senior Brendan Kopp and sophomore Sarah sailed in the A division, and finished fourth in the field and notching three first-place finishes in the third, fourth and 10th races. The duo finished the weekend with 134 points. The B-division squad of seniors Emily Lambert and Alexandra Jumper finished in the top 10 in 12 out of 18 races and came in sixth in their division with 141 points. In the C division, freshman Brian Drumm and sophomore Alice Kenney secured eight top-10 finishes, tallied 181 points, and took 11th place in the group. Yale finished first in the regatta while Stanford and Brown followed close behind, notching second and third, respectively.

Harvard totaled 83 points in the A division, for sixth place. In the B division, Freshman Michael Drumm served as skipper while sophomore Luke O'Connor and freshman Emma Smith split time as crew. The trio combined for 82 points as they also finished in the top 10, in 10 of the 12 races competed in. Their 82 points placed them sixth in the B division. Harvard's 165 points put the Crimson in sixth overall, two points behind Coast Guard. Yale took top honors in the event, while Tufts, Brown and Dartmouth rounded out the No. 2 through 4 spots in the standings.

The Crimson also competed at the BU Bridge Invitational this weekend as the team tallied 206 points and eighth place. Sophomores Caitlin Watson and Jacquelyn Cooley made up the A-division squad, sailing to eight top-10 finishes and ninth in the division, securing 106 points. The B-division group of sophomore Ames Lyman, freshman Rebecca Frankel and Junior Nicholas Gordon also finished ninth in the field, as they recorded six top-10 placings and accrued 100 points. Salve Regina took the regatta crown while Tufts and Boston University.

Harvard will now prepare for three regattas next weekend as the Crimson will compete at the BU Trophy, the Ferrarone Team Race and Dellenbaugh. All three regattas are slated for March 31-April 1.
