Harvard Second After ICSA Coed Day 1

AUSTIN, Texas—Senior Brendan Kopp and sophomore Sarah Pierson won two races and placed in the top four of two others to lead the Harvard sailing team to second place after Day 1 of the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association/Gill National Dinghy Championship Wednesday on Lake Travis.

Racing in a field of 18 boats, the Kopp-Pierson duo finished in the top eight in five of six races Wednesday to finish the day ranked second in the A division with 33 points. Emily Lambert and Brian Drumm are fourth in the B division with 42 points, after winning one race and also posting five top-eight finishes in six races.

Georgetown leads the Crimson by 19 points with 56 total, while Harvard has a seven-point edge on the rest of the field, led by Roger Williams.

Wednesday's racing started and ended with Harvard victories. Kopp and Pierson won Race 1A and later won their fourth race before Lambert and Drumm capped the day by taking first in Race 6B.
