“Benjamin and Isabel have done a great job increasing the communication between the coaches and athletes,” Harvard sailing coach Mike O’Connor said. “Their leadership and organization will be important to the team.”
Lamont, a native of Groton, Mass., was the skipper of the B division boat that took seventh at the George Morris Trophy last season. He was also part of the crew in the B division boat that finished third and helped the Crimson place second at the Harry Anderson Trophy.
Ruane was part of the A division boat that finished eighth at the 2012 ICSA Women’s National Championship, which helped the Crimson earn seventh overall. She also competed in the Women’s New England Championship, where Harvard placed seventh. As a freshman, Ruane helped the Crimson secure seventh at the 2011 ICSA Women’s National Championship by sailing the B division boat to a fifth-place finish.
Harvard sailing opens its fall season this weekend with two regattas. The coed team will compete in the Harry Anderson Trophy at Yale and the Tufts Central Series 1 at Tufts, while the women will sail for the Women's Tony Deutsch Trophy, hosted by MIT.
