Sailing Takes Fifth at Duplin Women’s Team Race

The Crimson earned six wins at the Duplin Trophy (Athletic Communications).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard sailing team split up to take on three races this weekend in Boston: the Duplin Women's Team Race, the BU Team Race and the Central Series II.

Harvard sent skippers Taylor Ladd, Taylor Gavula and Lucy Wilmot to the Duplin Team Race with support from crews Kristin Anderson, Amalia Frohna and Jessica Williams. The pairs finished the weekend with a 6-8 record, including a 2-3-4 finish over Tufts, a 1-2-5 finish against Rhode Island, and a 1-2-3 mark against Fordham. For the BU Team Race, Harvard sent skippers, Andrew Puopolo, Sofia Marie Mascia, and Catherine Kerner and crews, Lena Episalla, Victoria Marquez, and Juan Crestanello to compete in the six-team fleet. Despite a 2-4-6 finish against Bowdoin and a 1-4-6 placement against Coast Guard, the Crimson were limited to a sixth-place finish at the conclusion of two rounds.  For full results, please see the BU Team Race page.
 
Harvard sent Benjamin Zheng and Cara Kennedy Cuomo to compete in the A-Division at the Central Series II hosted by BU. The pair finished the four-race event with 53 points and one top-10 placement. Juan Crestanello and Iulianna Taritsa competed for the Crimson in the B Division, finishing the event with 49 points and one top-10 placement. The pair assisted the Crimson to a 14th place finish amongst the 18-boat fleet. For full results, please see the Central Series II results page.
 
Harvard will spend the week preparing for the BU Trophy, the Central Series III, and the Marchiando Trophy Team Race which will take place on the Charles River April 1-2.
